So many of my family memories are connected to water and swimming . . . my grandfather saying “swim, you’re a Fridinger” . . . the same grandfather compressing water in his fists to squirt the kids while we swam in a pond. . . my father floating meditatively on his back in the river . . . my sons having “diving” contests in the river . . . swimming at the YMCA . . . great memories.
